La Tromba

Leanne Sullivan & Joel Brennan – Baroque Trumpet
19 March 2023
Abbotsford

Synonymous with the glory of the baroque is surely the glorious sound of the baroque trumpet. As well as adorning frescoes and art, the instrument was popular with composers and had much solo and chamber music written for it during this period.

For Genesis Baroque’s first program of 2023, La Tromba, the ensemble welcomes Australian baroque trumpeters Leanne Sullivan and Joel Brennan, in a program featuring a Sinfonia and a Sonata for solo trumpet and strings, and concluding with Vivaldi’s celebratory concerto for two trumpets. Interspersed with string music by Albinoni and Geminiani, this program expresses the splendour and grace of the Italian Baroque.
